The club opened with financial assistance from the Forth Ports Authority in 1956 and celebrated it's 50th anniversary in 2006.
The modern, well decorated and comfortably furnished premises has two frequently used function suites, a large bar area and a small lounge, and a legal outdoor smoking area which is heated and protected from the elements. A large selection of drinks are on display at the bar.
Although there are only a handful of Dockers left, the management of the club is still maintained by a minority of dockers, with the assistance of Docker minded people, aware of it's historical basis.
Social acivites are Green Bowling, Golf, Darts and Dominoes.
There is dancing to live music, Charity Boxing matches and dances, plus general social intercourse.
The club is not only used by Leithers, most of whom have known each other and thier families for many years, but also guest visitors from all over the city and south of the
Leith Dockers Club is also home to Leith FM.
